Event - When I was about 10 I would always go over to my friend's house to play. His parents were very nice and they always collected nice things. The mom sometimes wore a little silver bar around her neck on a chain. I remember it said .999 troy ounce. At the time I was just getting into collecting coins and silver ones especially. So one day when I was over there, his parents were gone and we were playing war or something, and I was alone in their room. And I saw the silver bar on the bathroom counter. Well, I took it.
Apology - I'm an adult and I still have it! I've thought about mailing it back, but I haven't. And would it really matter this many years later? I made a dumb mistake and didn't do that kind of thing again. Over 30 years later, I still feel guilty about it. Weird, huh? I'm sorry!
Event - OK, all kids steal s**t. So I really dont feel that bad about it. But it's still kinda funny. I went into this store and put about 10 packs of hot wheels in my pants. When I walked out they guy at the register asked me if I found everything ok. Yeah I did!
Apology - Who doesnt steal stuff. Come on. I dont need forgiveness. I just think it's funny that I did that and noone caught me : )
Event - There was a store called The Treasury that was like Target - this was 30 years ago. And my friend and I would go in there at least once a week and remove price tags from cheap things and put them onto things we wanted that cost more. Back then there was no scanner - all the items were put in by hand.
Apology - We probably put The Treasury out of business. Not really. But between doing that there, Gemco and Best (not Best Buy), I could have opened up a pawn shop with all the stuff we got away with. Very sorry to big businesses that had to pay for my lack of morals at the time.
Event - I used to be a waiter at a pretty nice restaurant. When I worked the night shift, sometimes I'd take some steaks out of the freezer and put them outside with the trash. Then when my shift was over I'd drive around and pick them up. Score!
Apology - Stealing is wrong. I learned that when I was like 6. It's no better at 26. Sorry to the manager who had to count those steaks up and figure out why he was short.
Event - There was this guy on our street who would give chocolate to all the kids all the time. No, he wasn't a perv. Just a nice guy. He kept it in a huge glass bowl in the garage. One day a friend and I saw the door was open and couldn't resist. We ran in and grabbed as much as we could. As we ran away he came outside. We actually tried to lay down in the gutter to hide :) He saw us and came over. He said he was upset with what we had done, but let us keep it all.
Apology - Talk about guilt! We wouldn't have felt nearly as bad if he had just punished us! I haven't stolen since - like 20 years now.
