Event - I was maybe 17 or 18, and worked in a grocery store with an attractive, slightly older, single mother. I eventually asked her out, and we set a date for the following Friday PM. Out of drunkeness (I was a heavy drinker then) and immaturity, I totally blew off the date, leaving her alone after she had arranged for a sitter.

Apology - I feel awful that you were hurt, and went to a lot of trouble for no reason. I had no idea what it was like to be in your shoes, and if I'd been more thoughtful, I would have kept my commitment. I'm sorry, too, to the sitter who lost a chance to earn some pay.

We Took All Of The Tomatoes

Event - Several years ago, we belonged to a CSA (community supported agriculture) farm where families join and then share the harvest. One day we showed up to help pick produce, and there was supposed to be a freeze the next morning, so it was the last day the cherry tomatoes could be picked. We got about 30-40 little tomatoes, and took them all home. Afterwards, I realized we violated the spirit of the CSA by not sharing what we had picked.

Apology - I still feel bad about it and hope the universe can forgive us. 'Tis better to share what little we have than to horde things for ourselves.

Event - My mom is selfish. She always has been. The world revolves around her. But she's always talking about how giving and sacrificing she is. We were all at a wedding over the weekend and at the table she was talking about just this and I couldn't take it any more. I just told her what was on my mind and told her she's nuts and selfish and one of the least giving people I know. She took it as a joke, because she couldn't imagine such a thing could be true in her la-la world. But I was serious.

Apology - I should just let it go. Am I bitter because she was a sh***y mother? Yes. But who cares, right? She's old. I should just let her go on living in her make believe land. Sorry I flew off the handle. And sorry I did it in a public place.
