No More Hair

Event - I'm going back in the time machine for this one - back to...kindergarten! I don't remember much from when I was 6, but I have a clear mental image of this. I'm playing on the playground with my best friend at the time, Jordy Cohen. We're playing with a huge bouncy ball and he's hogging it. So I push it out of his hand and it rolls towards the fence. We both take off after it. This is where time freezes. I remember thinking, "If I stay behind him and push him, he'll bounce off the fence and I'll get the ball." Seemed like a good plan, so I waited for the right moment, then shoved him. As planned, he smashed into the chain-link fence and bounced off it. Sadly, a chunk of his hair didn't. It got caught in the fence and ripped out of his head. No blood - just a screaming kid. On the plus side, I got the ball.

Apology - I was 6 - gimmee a break! I'm sure the teacher punished me good. Still, it sucks that I really planned it out in those 2 seconds before it happened. I know Jordy's hair grew back because he ratted me out on something I did in the 10th grade. Payback! Still, you get my apology.

Casting Mistake

Event - About 10 years ago I was casting parts for a play I wrote and was directing. It was my first play and I was nervous about everything being perfect. So there was a small part that my best friend auditioned for. He was pretty good, but someone else was better. So I cast the other guy and my friend freaked out. He said I had a "black heart" and we never really spoke again.

Apology - He wasn't the best actor trying out, but he was surely good enough. And the part was small - it wouldn't have made a big difference even if he stunk (which he didn't). I was just being a control freak and let that get in the way of doing the right thing. I tried to patch things up, but he wasn't very forgiving. Maybe I'm just hoping he reads this and gets in touch. I'd love to catch up, and my wife would too. James D., you out there?

Fake Donation

Event - It was my stepfather's birthday and I didn't really like him much. But my mom had an attack if I didn't get him something or treat him nice. So his birthday rolls around and I forgot to get him anything. On the way to the house for his party, I heard on the radio there was a big earthquake in China a couple days before, and they were asking for donations to send. So at the party, I told him that I made a donation to the charity in his name : )

Apology - I don't apologize to my stepfather or mother. I shouldn't have to get a gift for someone I don't like. But I apologize to the people in China for using them in my lie.

Knocked Down Grandma

Event - This happened a pretty long time ago when roller blades first came out. I got a pair for christmas and I was trying them out in a parking lot. I lost control and hit an old lady. She took a dive and I kept on going. I learned really quick how to roller blade at that moment.

Apology - That really stinks. I was just afraid, but I should have stopped anyway. I suck.

Basketball Injury

Event - This was in high school. I played on the basketball team and we were getting killed one game. I noticed the center on the other team had a shoe untied, so next time a ball went up, I stepped on it with all my weihgt. He jumped and went all crazy off balance and fell and twisted his other ankle and had to leave the game..

Apology - It was actually kind of funny. Sorry but it's true.
