Jury Duty

| Event - I was called for jury duty and it was a setting where the lawyers called in a couple potential jurors and asked them some questions before deciding on a jury. The questions lead me to believe it was going to be a drunk driving case. My mom was very injured by a drunk driver, so I made sure I said all the right answers to try to get picked, even if I didn't believe the answers. I did get selected and it was a case of a drunk driver driving onto an onramp and killing his passenger. I don't even think I listened to anything. I just couldn't wait to get into the jury room and convict him. About halfway through the case one lawyer got very sick and the case was stopped. Eventually it was decided it had to be retried with a new jury. |
| Apology - I feel bad that I was ready to convict someone of a horrible thing based upon what happened in my own life and because I feel the driver who hurt my mom didn't pay enough. |

You would be living with guilt. |

The power of revenge can make a normally decent person turn into one of the bad guys. Be careful when reacting in this state of mind. Taking revenge, no matter the cost, can haunt you big time for the rest of your life. PS I agree that drunk drivers get off too easily. |

That is a disgusting, disgraceful thing to do.
Whether drunk drivers get off easy is beside the point. By not listening to the evidence, you simply demonstrated that you were willing to convict a person who was INNOCENT of drunk driving! |
